Family Dictionary — the words only your home uses, set like a real dictionary

Every home has words of its own: the name for the evening dad comes home tired, the name for the state of the lost remote, the word the youngest once said wrong and everyone kept saying that way. The Family Dictionary sets those words out like a real dictionary page: a bold headword, how it is said, its part of speech, numbered senses and an example — “babış ba·bış (noun) 1. The evening dad comes home tired from work.” You write six to twenty entries. Each has the word, how it is said if you like — syllables parted with a middle dot, printed exactly as you type it —, its part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, interjection or idiom), one to three senses and an example sentence if you like. At the top, the dictionary’s name, like “The Yılmaz Family Dictionary”, and an edition line under it: “First edition · 2026”. It works as a couple’s dictionary or a classroom’s too. Setting twenty paragraphs with hanging indents, no entry split across two columns, at the largest type size at which everything fits one sheet, is not a job for a pencil; it is ours. If your entries do not fit the size you chose at a readable size, we tell you before anything is printed — how many entries fit and which size would take them all — and we never cut an entry or shrink the type until it cannot be read. Matte poster paper for a frame, 5 mm foam board straight on the wall without one, or heavy card. 30 × 40, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm; one or two columns. Ten palettes: the same nine as the star map and the birth chart, plus Lexicon in an old dictionary’s red.
