Bookshelf Poster — the books you read, a shelf of them

The books you have read, on a bookshelf: every book a spine, the spine as thick as its page count, as tall as its format, with the title and author along it the way a real spine carries them. “Books I read in 2025” for a reader, the books a class read together, a couple’s shared shelf, or forty years of books for a librarian on her retirement. You write the books in order — the title, the author if you like, the page count and the format (pocket, standard, large) — or paste the list you already have, one book per line: “Madonna in a Fur Coat | Sabahattin Ali | 160”. At 687 pages, Crime and Punishment takes four times the shelf of a 160-page novella; the order you write is the order on the shelf, left to right, top to bottom. Spines read bottom to top, as Turkish and continental European books do, or top to bottom if you prefer. Turning forty spines of forty widths, fitting their titles and shelving them is not a job for a pencil; it is ours. We print the books at the largest size the sheet holds; if there is no room for an author on a spine the preview tells you so; a title is never shortened. If the list does not fit the size you chose at a readable size, we tell you before anything is printed how many books fit and which size takes them all, and we name any book whose spine is too thin, or whose title too long, to letter. Three layouts: books standing on wooden shelves, now and then one leaning on its neighbour, with a plant or a mug at the end of the last shelf (Shelf); books lying in stacks (Stacks); spines alone on hairline shelves (Plain). Eleven palettes — the first nine shared with the other Punto posters, then Walnut and a chalkboard, Chalkboard. Matte poster paper, 5 mm foam board or heavy card; 30 × 40, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm.
